National Instruments Releases Free Version of LabVIEW Programming Software
National Instruments has released LabVIEW Community Edition. That is a free version of the professional graphical programming environment. The free version contains all the functionality, but is only intended for home use.
LabVIEW is an idea with which software can be written for operating systems such as Windows, macOS and Linux and the programming environment can also be used to program FPGAs. Until now, the software could only be used for a fee, but with LabVIEW Community Edition that will change.
The free version includes the same functionality as the professional version. Users also get access to the LabVIEW NGX Web Module. The package also includes a new LINX toolkit to use created applications with maker boards such as those from Arduino, Raspberry Pi and BeagleBoards.
The difference with the paid versions is that the Community Edition may not be used for commercial projects. According to the makers, LabVIEW is used by many large companies and institutions, including SpaceX and CERN.
