The demo can be downloaded for Windows XP (363.4MB) and Windows Vista (379.3MB), with the demo version for Vista using DirectX 10; Lost Planet for Windows XP has to make do with DirectX 9. ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ is a third-person shooter and is set in the 22nd century on the planet EDN III. Humanity wants to settle on this planet after the earth is exhausted and destroyed. On the very cold EDN III, however, live the Akrid, an insect-like life form that can survive in the harsh conditions because their bodies generate so-called thermal energy, which humanity does not want on the planet. However, the thermal energy turns out to be a source of heat and energy, two conditions for living on EDN III.
