Samsung is releasing an update for its 2018 and later smart TVs that adds the Apple Music app to the TVs. It is the first time that Apple’s music service will be available as an app on televisions.

Samsung reports that it will release the update on Thursday for all its 2018, 2019 and 2020 smart TVs. After the update, users will be able to download the Apple Music app from the Samsung TV App Store. If users then create or sign in with an Apple account, they can use the music service on their TV. Samsung claims to be the first TV manufacturer to offer Apple Music on smart TVs.

The service’s interface and features are similar to those of Apple Music on other platforms. Apple and Samsung have been working together for some time to make Apple services available through Samsung TVs. Last year, the two companies teamed up to make the Apple TV app and Airplay 2 support available on the Korean company’s televisions. Apple Music is already available on other platforms including Android. Apple is trying to generate revenue from multiple services to be less dependent on its hardware sales, competing with Spotify, among others.
