Valve has indicated that Portal 2 will receive “full Move support”, but the American company is not quite done integrating the technology. Valve also announced the new Left 4 Dead 2 DLC on Wednesday.

Valve’s Chet Faliszek announced the Move support in an interview with the German PlayStation Blog. “We shouldn’t have outsourced the PlayStation 3 version of The Orange Box to an outside team. They did a good job, but didn’t reach the quality level we have at Valve. To prevent this from happening again, we’ve created a console department .”

To make up for this history, PlayStation 3 owners will receive Move support, a free code for the PC version and ‘PS3-exclusive cloud-saving’. “Think of it as compensation for the lack of Left 4 Dead on the PS3,” said Faliszek. It is also possible for PS3 owners to play Portal 2 against PC and Mac owners.

Wednesday brought Valve already released a Left 4 Dead 2 surprise. Community Modder Matthew Lourdelet’s Cold Stream campaign becomes an official DLC. The campaign is not finished yet; Valve hopes to leverage its community for that. With this expansion, Valve is not focusing on a new story. The pack will include an audioless Cold Stream, as well as the other three Left 4 Dead 1 campaigns.

The Cold Stream package will be available for PC, Mac and Xbox 360. The Cold Stream campaign will be available for testing for PC and Mac players in the coming weeks. The pack has yet to be named, and the release date is “sometime after Portal 2.” Valve is known for its “it’s done when it’s done” mentality.

Update February 18, 09:15: Doug Lombardi, Valve spokesperson, has meanwhile indicated that Faliszek has been misunderstood. Portal 2 will not receive Move support.
