Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 has a larger screen on the front
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is rumored to have a 6.23″ screen with a 25:9 ratio on the front. The current Fold has a smaller and less elongated 21:9 screen, with a diagonal of 4 ,6″.
The new screen has a resolution of 2267×819 pixels, a refresh rate of 60Hz and a hole for the front camera, says Ross Young. He is the founder of DisplaySearch, an analyst firm with supplier resources.
If the information is correct, the Galaxy Fold 2 will have a narrow screen on the front just like the first model, but this time with smaller bezels, especially at the top and bottom. It would be a screen of about 15 centimeters long and 5.4 centimeters wide. With the first Fold that is 10.7 by 4.6 cm.
According to Young, Samsung planned to place a camera under the screen, but that technique is not yet ready for use in practice. Various manufacturers have already shown prototypes of cameras under the screen, but it is not yet clear when phones will be released.
Young does not provide details about the specifications of the folding screen on the inside of the Fold 2. He does say that Samsung, just like with the Galaxy Z Flip will use its Ultra Thin Glass. That is a very thin layer of glass on the screen, which is covered by a protective layer of plastic. The new protective layer could be more scratch-resistant, claims Young.
Earlier, XDA Developers already announced that the second Galaxy Fold will receive support for Samsung’s S Pen and that the cameras of the device are equal to those of the Galaxy S20+. It is not yet known when the Galaxy Fold 2 will be released.
