ViewSonic 34″ ultrawide monitor has 200Hz panel and 1400cd/m² brightness
ViewSonic introduces a curved 34″ ultrawide monitor with a mini LED backlight and a 160Hz panel that can be overclocked to 200Hz. The screen has 1152 dimmable zones and a peak brightness of 1400cd/m².
The 34″ monitor has an aspect ratio of 21:9, a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels and a curvature of 1500R. This corresponds to the curvature of a circle with a radius of 1.5 meters. The screen stands out because of the high refresh rate which goes up to 200Hz and the mini LED backlight, which should enable good HDR reproduction.
ViewSonic says that the Elite XG341C-2K monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certified. This means that the monitor must achieve a peak brightness of at least 1400cd/m². The backlight consists of an unknown number of mini LEDs that are divided over 1152 dimmable zones.
With such specifications, the ViewSonic Elite XG341C-2K is one of the most advanced mini LED monitors of the moment. It is striking that the manufacturer does not show any images of the monitor in its announcement, but does say that the screen will be on the market in the first quarter. A price has not yet been announced.
MSI announced last November the first 34″ ultrawide monitor with mini LED backlight on. This is a model with a curvature of 1000R and a maximum brightness of 1000cd/mª. It is not known how many zones the backlight has and what the refresh rate is of MSI’s version. it is not yet known when the MSI monitor will appear and what it will cost.
ViewSonic is also announcing a 27″ monitor with mini LED backlight at CES. That is the XG272G-2K, which has a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 300Hz. The backlight has 576 zones and a brightness of up to 1000cd/m². the manufacturer will release this screen in the third quarter of this year, for an as yet unknown price.
ViewSonic now mentions a price of another monitor with mini LED backlight which was announced in November last year. This concerns the Elite XG321UG gaming monitor, a 32″ model with 16:9 ratio, 4k resolution and refresh rate of 144Hz. This monitor also has a mini LED backlight with 1152 zones and a brightness of up to 1400cd/m². the first quarter will be published for USD 2500. Converted with VAT, that is about EUR 2,675.
