Skull and Bones is out November 8 for Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 5, PC and Stadia. Developer Ubisoft has also revealed more about the gameplay of the game. The game can be played alone or with friends and strangers, and has PvP elements.

In Skull and Bones, the player starts out as an outcast who survived a shipwreck on the island of St Anne. This is where one of the game’s pirate dens resides. In these settlements, players can take on new missions, build ships and craft or buy equipment and stock, among other things.

Players start with a small sailing ship and can craft different types of ships. There are cargo ships, exploration ships, and firepower ships, each with different properties. For example, a discovery ship is faster than the other types, but can carry less cargo and weapons.

While sailing, players must keep an eye on the morale on the ship. Crew with low morale may mutiny, causing the player to lose a ship. The player can improve morale by providing enough provisions, such as food and drink. The ship can also be destroyed while sailing, for example in combat. Then the player respawns on a previously explored island and loses some of the cargo. The rest of the cargo can be retrieved at sea by the player, or by other players.

Those battles can be against AI boats or against other players’ craft. Ships can be destroyed from a distance, but players gain more cargo when they climb aboard the other ship and take control. When defeating other ships, the player gains ‘infamy’, which can also be achieved through missions and other ways. The more infamy the player has, the more ‘possibilities’ he or she has in the game.

The game has a variety of weapons that the ships can use to fire, including cannons, missiles, mortars and Greek fire. In the game, players can find and mine raw materials such as ores and wood, which in turn can be used for crafting weapons and ships, for example. On islands, players can also personalize their character and ships.

Skull and Bones was announced in 2017 and should have been released a year later. Ubisoft now says the game will be available for consoles, PC and Stadia. The game is available on PC through the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect. It is set in the Indian Ocean ‘from the African coast to the East Indies’ during the golden age of piracy.
