Symantec Messaging Gateway is a product for securing incoming and outgoing mail flows. It builds on Brightmail, which was acquired by Symantec in 2004. Although that happened more than fourteen years ago, the old name is still mentioned in the product with the addition ‘powered by Brightmail’. The program offers anti-spam and anti-malware options, advanced content filtering and data loss prevention, and also offers encryption options by integrating with Symantec encryption products. SMG can be run on a companion hardware appliance or virtually in VMware or Hyper-V. Version 10.6.6 has been released with the following changes:

What’s new in SMG 10.6.6

This release fixes known defects and addresses known vulnerabilities, and includes new features.

New features include:

• Support for Threat Isolation version 1.11

• IPs that were on the Bad Sender IPs list were added to Fastpass.
• Updating from localinstall failed for update to from 10.6.4 to 10.6.5
• Blank space in DMARC Reporting Settings:’Sender Address’ field caused 501 Syntax error and undelivered mail was returned to sender.
• Users were unable to create a content policy for the DKIM result of policy
• Messages were not delivered to the Quarantine folders after the Control Center IP address was changed.
