Brave browser for Android will get extension support in the future
Brave, of the browser of the same name for Android, Windows, macOS, iOS and Linux, has released a rebuilt version of its browser for Android. This will enable support for extensions in the future.
The Android version now has some of the same codebase as the desktop release, and Brave claims that it will make it easy to add features in the Android version in the future. In any case, one of them will be support for extensions in the mobile version of the browser, the browser builder says. It is unknown when the Android browser will support extensions.
The interface remains the same, despite it being a rebuilt version. However, the browser should be a little more economical with the battery. Brave claims that in its tests, the new version uses 5 percent less energy and that the savings in data and computing power are 3 percent.
The Brave browser tries to differentiate itself from the competition through built-in ad and tracking blocks. Users can opt-in to privacy-friendly advertisements, with which they earn BAT, a payment method from Brave. This allows them to reward the creators of the content they watch online. Brave comes from Brendan Eich, former Mozilla CEO and one of the creators of JavaScript.
