Oculus presents new interface for software Quest headset
Oculus has presented a new interface for the Quest headset software. The interface should make multitasking and reaching frequently used functions easier than with the current interface.
For example, users can open a ‘universal menu’ as an overlay over the current app, so that they do not have to leave the app to access frequently used functions, Oculus reports. Those overlays work in WebXR apps launched by users in the browser, but later native apps can use them as well.
The browser will also have the ability to open more windows at once to do more things at once, according to the Facebook subsidiary. The new interface will be available this month under Experimental Features as a test version. When the final release should take place is still unknown. The Quest is Oculus’ standalone VR headset that came out last year.
