Bill Gates withdraws from Microsoft board
Bill Gates has announced that he is stepping down from Microsoft’s board of directors. He does the same for the investment company Berkshire Hathaway. He wants to invest more time in his institution with which he finances medical research, among other things.
The news was announced by Microsoft itself, in a statement that the company has posted on its website. Bill Gates resigns from the board of Microsoft and investment firm Berkshire Hathaway. Gates will remain as a technical advisor at Microsoft, where he will advise CEO Satya Nadella.
Gates is stepping down as a board member to devote more time to his philanthropic organization. With his Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the co-founder of Microsoft funds, among other things, medical research. The institution has funded a lot of HIV research, and a lot of money has recently been invested in research into the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.
