Download Unison 1.7.8

The folks at Panic have released a new version of Unison, bringing the program to version 1.7.8. Unison is a usenet client for Mac OS X, with features such as uploading and downloading messages and binaries. In addition, the client can download files using nzb files and check the downloaded files by means of par sets. Compared to the previous version – which dates from August last year – Unison 1.7.8 has made a number of improvements, including improved message parsing and a bug fix in the support of SSL connections. Basically, Unsion 1.7.8 offers lots of little tweaks and improves bushels of bits. It’s not a super critical update — if Unison works well for you, you might be already set — but if you have a pet peeve bug stuck in your craw or just want the best Unison build in existence, go ahead and grab the update!

Among many other fixes, we’ve fixed a bug relating to hanging SSL connections, improved message count accuracy, improved message parsing, and made random signatures more random. If you still have trouble with SSL connections after downloading this update, try choosing Empty Message Cache… from the Unison menu, and resetting your message cache. This should help!

• “Save Attachments” now works in messages opened from news:msgid link
• Fixed decoding/formatting problem with UTF-8+base64 encoded messages, eg Google Groups posts[break]
