Spotify starts showing lyrics while playing songs

Spotify has started showing lyrics while playing music tracks, according to user reports. It is an option that the company can enable on the server side without the need for an update of the app.

Many users seem to be getting the feature since Wednesday, Android Police reports. It concerns users of the apps on Android, iOS and desktop. The lyrics are in line with the music tracks. Until now, Spotify showed additional information and parts of lyrics for some songs, but not entire lyrics.

The lyrics come from Musixmatch, which previously had a service to show the lyrics over the Spotify app. The lyrics can be found under the songs, according to screenshots of users who have activated the function. Showing lyrics was previously a Spotify test, but until now it was not visible to many users.
