Remaster of Mass Effect trilogy appears to be in the making after inspection agency report
Rumors that a remaster of the Mass Effect trilogy is in the works seem to be corroborated by a recent classification from a South Korean certification body. Whether and when exactly the remasters will be released is still unknown, although there is a rumor about the beginning of next year.
The inspection can be found in a list of the South Korean inspection agency, Gematsu discovered. There the title is specifically mentioned as Mass Effect Legendary Edition. It concerns a single classification, which may mean that the three titles will not be available separately, but can only be obtained as a bundle.
In an August rumor, GamesBeat was still expected to release in October, but later that medium, based on unnamed sources, came with the rumor that Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has been delayed to release early next year. That delay would have to do with the finding that the remaster of the original Mass Effect game would not achieve the quality of the remasters of the other two games, involving both visual aspects and gameplay. According to the latter rumor, the remaster of the trilogy will not include the multiplayer part of Mass Effect 3. The bundle will provide all download content for the three original games.
Since the games were released between 2007 and 2012 and are therefore not very old yet, they are likely to be remasters with graphical improvements rather than full remakes. Neither EA nor BioWare has officially announced the remaster collection of the original three Mass Effect games. In an earlier annual report, EA did report that it was working on an ‘HD title’ based on an existing game and that this title would be released before March 2021, but the company did not mention a specific name.
