Thanks to Antiloop’s research, we are pointed to a new firmware for the Asus WL-500g. The update is provided with jersey number 1.7.5.6 and via this link to take down. After installation, the router is software equipped with the following new features and adjustments:

Add: Tx Power adjustment.(Only for power user)

Add: “Tx Only” for Idle Disconnect Time or PPPoE in seconds

Add: PPPoE connection status in detail

Add: “Protocol Number” in Virtual Server(for example GRE, OTHER 47, for PPTP server in LAN)

Add: DHCP Server that allows fixed MAC address

Add: “ZoneEdit” for DDNS

Add: WAN Status report when wan connection is disconnected

Add: Redirect to Quick Setup when first time access

Add: Allow Filter rules into DMZ(ok)

Add: Enable NAT Firewall when Internet Firewall is enabled.

Fix: DDNS bug when dhcp release/renew is performed.(DDNS abuse)

Fix: Printer support for HP1210 psc

Fix: PPTP server behind WL500g/b passthrough
