Download Hitman Pro 2.5.3.0
Mark Loman released version 2.5.3 of Hitman Pro yesterday. Hitman Pro is an all-in-one solution against spyware, especially intended for the less experienced user. The program automatically downloads and runs as many as twelve different anti-spyware and antivirus programs, including Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster, CWShredder, and NOD32, and runs them independently. By using these in succession, the computer is thoroughly cleaned of unwanted software. After inspection, a report clearly states which hazards were found and which of the programs used found them. The changelog for this release shows the following changes:
Changes in version 2.5.3.0:
- Added Behavioral Scan function to scan for threats. Click on Expert -> Behavioral Scan. Note that only 60% of its functions are implemented. Exporting results and additional detection methods and scans (registry and network connections) will be added in the coming weeks. Hitman Pro is now the only antimalware application capable of collecting threats (known, variants and unknown) without using a recognition database. If you find one, please report problems and bugs.
- Added Safe Mode check box. When checked, Hitman Pro will automatically do the following tasks:
- Download and install necessary applications and updates
- Restart Windows to Safe Mode and logon as local Administrator (with supplied password)
- Scan the system for threats on all local disks and in compressed archives
- Remove and quarantine threats (when Remove threats is automatically checked)
- Reboot Windows to Normal mode
- Added support for parking scan results so they can be uploaded when network connection is re-established (eg when Hitman found threats during Safe Mode)
- parking and uploading scan results is done automatically when user has allowed to share them with our research database
- Added preliminary support for English Spy Sweeper 5.2; note that the scan results will not appear in the Hitman Pro report or Threat Cache because Webroot changed the interface again (they are investigating a solution for us)
- Improved support for Spy Sweeper in Safe Mode
- Added Hitman Pro Expiration Helper for NOD32; when NOD32 displays an expiration message (when Windows is starting) Hitman will display a window offering the user to buy or remove NOD32, or ignore the message
- Added interaction with Windows Security Center
- Improved detection of installed antivirus (to prevent installing NOD32 with real-time protection while another antivirus is installed)
- Hitman will remove the NOD32 Security Center entry when NOD32 is installed as scan only (Security Center would otherwise complain about a disabled antivirus)
- Improved handling of Ad-Aware; when there were no updated definitions, Hitman now handles the window mentioning the outdated definitions
- Improved handling of Spyware Doctor
- Fixed trusting registry objects in Expert (Threat Cache)
- Added an internal filter to Expert to solve some false positives from external antispyware tools (ex blocked ZoneMap\Domains shouldn’t be mentioned because the block is actually a help and not a threat)
- Replaced Hitman Pro icon with new one
