Download ffdshow 2004-10-12 alpha
A new official alpha version of the DirectShow filter ffdshow is available on Source Forge. The update is numbered 2004-10-12 alpha and is in the usual version available, but now also in a pre SSE– and SSE2instructions optimized version (see note below). With this program, DivX, XviD, WMV, MPEG1, and MPEG2 files can be played in various media players. Ffdshow uses the libav codec from the ffmpeg project for video decompression, mplayer’s postprocessing code for improved visual quality of low bitrate files, and is based on XviD’s original DirectShow filter. In this release, the bug that caused the Explorer to crash under Windows XP should be fixed. The full release notes look like this:
Notes:
- This build should fix Windows XP explorer crashes.
- Three editions are available: special for SSE and SSE2 capable CPUs and generic for all others. SSE a SSE2 build were compiled using Intel C++ Compiler 8.1, generic build was compiled with Microsoft VC6.
- Known bug: in SSE and SSE2 builds Avisynth image processing filter in ffdshow isn’t working.
