LG announces which smartphones will receive Android 10 upgrade
LG has announced which of its smartphones will receive the upgrade to Android 10. All high-end models from 2018 and 2019 are included, but the G6 and V30 from 2017 are not. Even the cheapest K phones will not get Android 10.
The information is on LG’s Italian site, in a post found by Android Police. It is obvious that the release dates in the Benelux will not differ much. The first phone to get the upgrade is the G8X ThinQ with its Dual Screen accessory. It will receive Android 10 in the spring. In the summer, the G8S, G7 and V40 will follow. The cheaper devices will follow by the end of the year.
That stops the Android upgrades for the high-end models from 2017: the G6 and V30. They came out with Android 7.0 Nougat. Also, last year’s K20 and K30 will not get an upgrade. They came out last fall.
The upgrade includes a new version of LG’s Android release UX 9.0 with desktop mode in addition to Android 10. In addition, users can use the USB-C port to connect a monitor and use the phone as a desktop. LG opened a division in 2018 that became responsible for faster updates for its smartphones.
