Netflix has announced Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. According to the streaming service, it is a horror series with a science fiction twist, which is based on Capcom’s games. It is a digital animation series.

According to Netflix, it is a horror action series based on the stories of two characters from the games: Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Both made their debut as playable characters in Resident Evil 2 in 1998 and made their appearance in later games as well.

It is not yet known how many episodes the series will get and when they will be released. Netflix only reports that the series will be released next year. In 2021, the Resident Evil franchise will be 25 years old. The appearance of the series is probably related to the festivities that Capcom is organizing about it.

Capcoms Hiroyuki Kobayashi, director of Resident Evil 4 and 6, is also involved in the series as a director. A computer-animated film already appeared in the franchise in 2017: Resident Evil: Vendetta. Netflix emphasizes that the technology is now more advanced and that the new series will look better graphically.

Apart from the animated series, Netflix is also working on a Resident Evil series with actors. Information about this was released at the beginning of last year and at the end of August this year Netflix confirmed the arrival of that live action series. The series will consist of eight one-hour episodes. It is not yet known when that series will appear.
