LG has released an update for OLED televisions released in 2019 to fix a bug that occurs when using an Nvidia RTX 3080. The error caused the television users to see a black image in some cases.

The manufacturer had already announced a software update for its OLED televisions, but according to Forbes there is now actually a fix available. For the time being, this only concerns the models that were released last year; the update for this year’s models has yet to be released, but according to LG that will happen ‘very quickly’.

Those who suffer from problems with their OLED TV in combination with the RTX 3080 from Nvidia, can request the software update at a LG service center; it is therefore not possible to download the software yourself and install it on the TV. Incidentally, it appears from some experiences that not all service centers are aware of the fix yet. The software update for the 2020 models can probably be downloaded via the internet once it is out.

Last week, LG announced that a fix had to be released for the problems within a few weeks. OLED TV owners complained that when using the G-Sync Compatible function on the RTX 3080, they would see a black image when the output is set to 120Hz. Some people also fail to get 4k images at 120Hz with 4: 4: 4 display without compression.
