RTX 3090 is 10 to 15 percent faster than RTX 3080 in 4k and has limited inventory
Nvidia will release its RTX 3090 video card on Thursday at 3:00 PM. Independent reviews will then also appear, but the manufacturer already indicates that the card for 4k gaming is hardly faster than the RTX 3080. According to Nvidia, the card is limited in stock.
According to Nvidia, the RTX 3090 is intended “for a unique group of users” and the card is therefore limited in stock. The manufacturer says it is working with partners to increase stock in the coming weeks. Nvidia says this in an announcement about the availability of the new top model, which will be released on Thursday afternoon.
The appearance of the RTX 3080 last week was problematic. Nvidia and stores would have been overwhelmed with demand and many interested parties have not been able to get their hands on a card. However, Nvidia has not given concrete sales figures.
Nvidia also reports in its limited supply report that the RTX 3090 for 4k gaming is only 10 to 15 percent faster than the RTX 3080. However, the top model is twice as expensive. Looking ahead to performance, Nvidia indicates that the card is not a good buy for most gamers.
According to Nvidia, the RTX 3090 is aimed at users of the Titan RTX and previous Titan cards. Bee content creation the top model with 24GB gddr6x would do better. Nvidia shows benchmarks such as Blender and Luxray in which the RTX 3090 often outperforms the Titan RTX by 1.5 times. However, Nvidia does not make a comparison with the RTX 3080.
Nvidia also states that the RTX 3090 is suitable for ‘extreme gamers’ and gaming at an 8k resolution. The manufacturer refers to a page with its own benchmarks that were already shown when the card was introduced. No comparison is made with other video cards.
Nvidia gives its RTX 3090 Founders Edition a price of 1549 euros. Luxury versions from manufacturers are still a few hundred euros more expensive. Prices of some RTX 3090 cards are already listed in the Pricewatch.
