You can use the iGet program on the Mac OS X platform to exchange files. This program is specially written for this platform and therefore contains a number of exclusive functions such as ‘remote Spotlight searching’ – searching through your own Mac for files that are on another Mac computer. The connections are provided with SSH security to prevent outsiders from peeking into your files. Five Speed Software has released version 2.1.1 with the following changes:

iGet 2.1.1 introduces specific user-requested enhancements to iGet’s automated file transfer capabilities, improvements to the interface for remote Spotlight searching, and minor bug fixes.

Enhancements and Fixes in iGet 2.1.1:

  • iGet’s AppleScript dictionary has been expanded to allow specifying the “conflict resolution” for automated transfers. This allows scripts to handle automatic file transfers of items which already exist on the remote Mac, but cannot be resumed because the files are different. If conflicts are encountered, scripts can now specify whether to skip conflicting items, move them to the trash, cancel the transfer, or prompt the user.
  • iGet’s Automator actions have been enhanced to allow specifying of the new conflict resolutions using the Automator GUI.
  • Fixed bug that could cause Automator-based downloads to fail with an error in workflows which did not specify a local download folder.
  • Made some minor interface enhancements to Spotlight searching.
  • Some bugs that could cause display glitches have been corrected.
