Sony will release the Xperia 5 II smartphone next month for 899 euros. The manufacturer has announced this. This makes the new phone more expensive than its predecessor. The Xperia 5 was released last year for 799 euros.

The Sony Xperia 5 II differs from previous models by a 120Hz OLED screen, where Sony used 60Hz screens until now. It is a 6.1 “panel with a resolution of 2520×1080 pixels, dimensions of 14.2×6.1cm with an area of 87 square centimeters and an aspect ratio of 21: 9. The screen has no hole or notch for the front camera.

The phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865-soc with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage. Thanks to the X55 modem, the Xperia 5 II can connect to 5G. The battery has a capacity of 4000mAh and can charge via the USB-PD standard.

In terms of camera, the set-up seems similar to the Xperia 1 II that appeared earlier this year, with 12-megapixel cameras with telephoto, wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle. The phone gets a 3.5mm jack, unlike its predecessor. The phone can record in 4k at 120fps. Sony will release the phone in October in the Benelux.
