Download VeraCrypt 1.0f-1
An update to version 1.0f of VeraCrypt has been released. VeraCrypt is a so-called fork of TrueCrypt, which was discontinued in May last year under rather vague circumstances. This open source encryption program can encrypt entire hard drives or partitions, and virtual volumes, such as a file accessed as a partition. VeraCrypt uses the original source code of TrueCrypt, but includes several security improvements. Volumes created with TrueCrypt can be opened and converted from this version. The Frenchman Mounir Idrassi has been working on this project since the summer of 2013. The changelog for this release looks like this:
All OSs:
- Add support for old TrueCrypt 6.0.
- Change naming of cascades algorithms in GUI for a better description.
Linux/Mac OS X:
- Make cancel button of the preference dialog working.
- Solve impossibility to enter a one digit size for the volume.
- Add wait dialog to the benchmark calculation.
Windows:
- For Windows XP, correct the installer graphical artifacts.
- Add TrueCrypt mode to the mounted volume information.
