Codemasters Announces F1 Race Stars
Codemasters is taking a different tack with F1 Race Stars. The publisher uses the official Formula 1 license, but gives the game an almost childlike appearance. The game will be released in November for PC and consoles.
F1 Race Stars becomes created by Codemasters’ own Birmingham studio, which hopes to be ready in November and developing the game for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Because Codemasters is licensed, F1 Race Stars will feature existing teams, drivers, tracks and cars , although Codemasters has given it an almost childlike appearance. F1 Race Stars is thus ‘Formula 1 as never shown’. Drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel race around the circuits of Monaco and Silverstone in the game.
Not everything is true, though, as the tracks are only loosely based on the original. For example, there are ramps that allow drivers to make huge jumps. Players can also acquire power-ups along the way. F1 Race Stars can be played with up to four players in split screen and with up to 12 players in online multiplayer mode.
