Publisher Focus Entertainment released a trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem during The Game Awards event. It shows gameplay footage for the first time. This game is the successor to the well-received A Plague Tale: Innocence.

The trailer features Amicia and Hugo, the two main protagonists from the original. After escaping their devastated homeland, they travel far south to visit new regions and vibrant cities, hoping to rebuild their lives. However, Hugo’s curse causes trouble again. The brother and sister try to flee to an island where perhaps the key is to save Hugo. The trailer also shows quite often the sea and beaches, as well as a short image of Amicia on a ship.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will be released next year on an undisclosed date. The title will be released for PC, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. For the latter console, it only concerns the Cloud Version. A Plague Tale: Requiem will also be part of Xbox Game Pass for consoles and PC upon release, as well as part of the cloud portion.

The new title is being created by French developer Asobo Studio. This studio also made its predecessor, A Plague Tale: Innocence. That critically acclaimed title was released in 2019 and was nominated for Best Narrative at that year’s The Game Awards, among other things. A Plague Tale: Innocence features a linear, emotional story including supernatural elements and mysteries. It revolves around the children Amicia and Hugo living in France who have to flee during the Spanish Inquisition and where the impact of the plague cannot go unmentioned. This summer, A Plague Tale: Innocence received another 4k60 upgrade for Xbox Series X and PS5, then also came to Nintendo Switch as a Cloud Game.
