Star Wars Eclipse is in early development and getting cinematic trailer
At The Game Awards, developer Quantic Dream announced Star Wars Eclipse. This Star Wars title is in an early stage of development. A cinematic trailer has also been released.
The trailer contains few details and mainly sets the tone and the dark atmosphere. It includes a character beating a large drum as part of an apparently evil ceremony, in which another character eventually rises from a tar pit. Meanwhile, darkness engulfs the galaxy, including Yoda and a C-3PO-like protocol droid, as well as plenty of space battles.
According to the official description, it is an action-adventure game with a branching story. The makers describe Star Wars Eclipse as the first game set in The High Republic. That’s the name of a multimedia project of various stories from the Star Wars franchise set during the High Republic era, some two hundred years before the events of the original Star Wars films. Star Wars Eclipse seems to be mainly set in the Outer Rim.
The new game will have an original story with unique characters who can each walk their own paths and each have their own skills and roles. There are all kinds of playable characters, which probably adds to the fact that the game can be experienced in all kinds of ways. The choices the player makes can make a significant difference to the course of the story.
Quantic Dream is the developer and is best known for the titles Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human. Star Wars Eclipse is being worked on in studios in Paris and Montreal. No release date has yet been announced for the new game.
