Gearbox releases Homeworld 3 in the last quarter of 2022 and shows trailer
Gearbox Publishing announced at The Game Awards that Homeworld 3 will be released sometime in the last quarter of next year. The publisher has also released a new trailer with gameplay footage.
Gearbox describes the title as a standalone game in the Homeworld series, where the story continues generations after the events of Homeworld 2. Homeworld 3’s campaign is set in a galaxy where, thanks to the Hyperspace Gate Network, there has been a century of abundance. . Now these gates are starting to fail.
The pages of Homeworld 3 on Steam and in the Epic Games Store state that the game from developer Blackbird Interactive will be released for Windows in the last quarter of 2022. Here are also some new screenshots and the gameplay trailer is shown. It shows images of the characteristic 3D space battles. Karan S’jet can also be heard, the scientist and protagonist who commanded the fleet in Homeworld 1 and 2. She is “the key to the mystery that threatens the future of the entire galaxy.”
Gearbox announced Homeworld 3 more than two years ago and was already talking about a release sometime at the end of 2022. The original Homeworld dates from 1999 and Homeworld 2 from 2003. In between there was Homeworld: Cataclysm from 2000 and in 2016 Homeworld: Deserts of kaharak. This latest game is set on the desert planet of Kharak and should be seen as a prequel to the original Homeworld. Unlike the other Homeworld games, Deserts of Kaharak does not take place in space. In 2015, Gearbox also released Homeworld Remastered.
