Samsung has released version 3.5 of the software development kit for its Smart TV platform. The latest version gives app developers the ability to integrate gesture and voice control into their apps.

Control via speech and gestures is one of the new features that Samsung has added to its Smart TV platform this year. Until now, those features could only be used in Samsung’s own applications, but with the new SDK that will change. Applications can now also use Samsung’s AllShare dlna implementation and via the TV-Mobile framework it is possible to connect to a mobile or tablet from a TV app.

The new version of the SDK gives users the choice to use a different ide for the first time. Previously, all apps had to be made in Samsung’s own package, but developers can now also use Eclipse in combination with the emulator from the SDK.
