Synology has released an update to version 2.1 of Disk Station Manager, the management software that runs on several of the company’s NAS products. Version 2.1 brings a large number of changes. For example, the interface has been overhauled, there is support for raid5+ spare and jbod on the models that can be equipped with multiple hard drives and the device can now also serve as a mail server. Furthermore, the user interface of File Station and Surveillance Station now also uses ajax, it is possible to assign separate rights to subfolders or individual files, the print server can now control two USB printers and there is now also a Linux version of it.
