Tamron introduces 35mm f1.8 and 45mm f1.8 with stabilization

Tamron will release two new fixed focal length lenses at the end of September: the SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD and SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD. Both lenses are suitable for both full-frame and aps-c cameras.

The Japanese manufacturer is mainly known for zoom lenses and comes with new primes for the first time in a long time. Both lenses fall under the SP line and are made for Nikon F, Canon EF and Sony A-mount and, with the exception of the Sony, are equipped with image stabilization, which Tamron calls Vibration Compensation. It is not yet known how many stops the image stabilization could compensate. The lenses feature a quiet USD focus motor and a moisture-resistant construction.

The 35mm f/1.8 lens consists of a circular diaphragm with nine blades, 10 lens elements in nine groups. The lens has a filter size of 67 mm and a minimum focus distance of 20 centimeters. At 480 grams, the Canon version weighs 30 grams more than the Nikon version. It is still unknown how heavy the Sony version is.

The 45mm f/1.8 is slightly larger and consists of ten lens elements in eight groups. The minimum distance at which an object may be located to be able to focus on it is 29 centimeters. Like the 35mm, this lens also features nine diaphragm blades, a minimum aperture of f/16 and 67mm filter size.

At the time of writing, no prices had been announced.
