Photos of a new BlackBerry device that runs on Android once again appeared online on Saturday. It concerns the slider codenamed Venice, whose existence has been known for some time.

The images appeared on the Vietnamese site Techrum and are in line with previous images of the device. It can be seen that the Venice does not have a power button on top, but has inputs for a SIM card and a micro SD card. In addition, it seems that the slider has Android Lollipop.

There have been stories for some time that the Canadian BlackBerry is working on its first devices with Android, including a variant of the Passport, which is currently called Oslo. Earlier this month, slides showed that the Venice probably has a camera with a maximum resolution of eighteen megapixels. The rear also seems to have similarities with that of the Z30 from 2013.

The latest Android device from BlackBerry probably has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 soc on board. Furthermore, the rumors speak of a 5.4 “screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. When the Canadian manufacturer wants to announce the device is still unclear.

The phone reportedly runs on an Android variant that BlackBerry develops itself, as could be deduced from the way the shutdown looks like. In addition, BlackBerry Safeguard is visible, something that normally does not appear in the main menu. Finally, the phone presumably has access to Google’s Chromecast by default.

Update, Saturday 12.30pm – Based on a new message from CrackBerry, the photos have been replaced. This also shows that the Venice houses a speaker under the keyboard. There is also dual-LED flash on the back.
