Medal of Honor game for Oculus headsets will be released this fall
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, a VR game developed exclusively for Oculus headsets, will be released during the holiday season this fall. The game is made by Respawn Entertainment. A new trailer details the single player campaign.
The new trailer shows that the game is both about action and the story. Oculus provides details on the single player campaign on its blog. Players assume the role of an agent of the US Office of Strategic Services. That was an intelligence service during the Second World War. In that role, players must cooperate with the French Resistance, among other things, to sabotage Nazi operations.
Peter Hirschmann, the producer of the first Medal of Honor game, which was released in 1999, is involved in the VR project as a director. The game also features interviews with WWII veterans and survivors, adding to realism. The game will also get a multiplayer mode, but no details have been disclosed.
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is being developed exclusively for Oculus PC headsets. The game is playable with the Rift and also with the Quest, but with the latter this is only possible if the headset is connected to a PC.
The game will be released a little later than originally planned. In September last year, Oculus said the game would be released in the summer. Now the makers say the game will be released during the holiday season, indicating a release around the end of November. It has been known since 2017 that Respawn is working on a VR shooter in the Medal of Honor series on behalf of Oculus.
