Power manufacturer Seasonic shared a photo of a 12-pin power cable. This cable could possibly be intended for the ‘Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series’. The company says it currently uses this cable ‘only for testing’.

The photo was published by the official Seasonic account on the Chinese social network Bilibili, it noted Twitter user HXL on. It would be the possible “graphical interface for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series,” the company writes. The cable has a single 12-pin connector for the video card and connects to a power supply via two standard 8-pin connectors. Such 8-pin sockets can each supply up to 150W of power, with which the 12-pin connector is likely to supply up to 300W of power. The cable has a length of 75cm according to the packaging.

Rumors have been circulating since July of a possible 12-pin connector for Nvidia’s upcoming GeForce graphics cards, which will be based on the Ampere architecture. However, it is not known whether this connection will be used for all upcoming Ampere video cards. According to recent rumors, this power connection may only be for Nvidia’s own Founder’s Edition graphics cards, Hardware.info writes. Seasonic itself reports that it currently only uses the cable ‘for testing’. The manufacturer therefore does not report any recommended retail price. The company also states that it posted the image because there is no nondisclosure agreement for the 12-pin connector.

Nvidia will host a GeForce livestream on Tuesday, September 1. The GPU manufacturer is expected to announce its upcoming RTX 30 video cards on that date. On Saturday, some photos of an alleged RTX 3090 Founder’s Edition appeared on Twitter, but no power connectors are visible.
