Asus introduces its fastest GTX 980 yet
Asus has announced a new GeForce GTX 980 to mark the 20th anniversary of the company’s release of its first graphics card. The GTX 980 20th Anniversary Gold Edition is the company’s fastest GTX 980 to date.
Asus has set the core clock of the GTX 980 20th Anniversary Gold Edition at 1317MHz, with a Boost of 1431MHz. This makes the clock speeds higher than the other GTX 980 versions of Asus, such as the ROG Matrix, the ROG Poseidon and the Strix OC. There is also 4GB of memory that still runs at the standard speed of 7010MHz.
The other features are similar to those of the ROG Matrix GTX 980. For example, there is a 14-phase power supply and the Direct CU II cooler with 10mm heatpipes and two fans is present. The card is in gold and black with adjustable LED lighting on the side. Asus claims to have used high-quality parts for overclocking capabilities.
Asus hasn’t said anything about price and availability yet. It may be a limited edition, which will probably be more expensive than the ROG Matrix, which is currently in the Pricewatch for a starting price of 718 euros.
