Tweaker makes Nin10do console based on Raspberry Pi
Tweaker TheDanielSpies has built its own NES-like console based on a Raspberry Pi. Using a 3d printer and Autodesk software, the housing of the Nin10do retro console was turned out.
TheDanielSpies, aka Daniel Spies, took the classic NES console from 1986 as its basis. He wanted to build an NES-compatible console that would be easy to connect to his high-definition television. He took a Raspberry Pi B+ as a basis. With Autodesk 123D he developed a housing similar to the NES. He had this printed out in xt-polyester by a company with a 3d printer.
In the design, he has placed the USB connection for the controllers behind a cover that can be opened and closed automatically with the push of a button. According to the tweaker, this gives an ‘authentic Nintendo feeling’.
The ARM soc in the Raspberry Pi B+ has been significantly overclocked, according to TheDanielSpies, making games run more smoothly. He has placed cooling blocks on the processor to ensure that it does not get too hot. He also had to modify the necessary code to make the emulation software on the Nin10do console as user-friendly as possible. In addition to old Nintendo games, the console can also handle many classic dos games by default.
