Twitter has made the feature to restrict who can reply to tweets available to all users. The feature was announced at the beginning of this year and has been available to a limited group since May.

When posting a tweet Users now have three options. The first and default option is that anyone can respond. The second option is that only people that the user follows can reply and the third option is that only people that the user mentions in the tweet in question can post a comment.

With the feature, Twitter gives users more control over conversations. According to the social network, the earlier test showed that the functionality resulted in ‘different conversations than before’.

When users choose one of those last two options, a label is placed and the answer icon is gray, so people can see that there are restrictions. The closed conversations are visible to all users and others can retweet the messages, possibly with a comment.
