Intel confirms official Tiger Lake unveiling on Sept. 2
Intel has officially confirmed on its website that the company will unveil its Tiger Lake laptop processors on September 2. The presentation is held virtually. On August 13, CEO Raja Koduri will give another presentation with ‘updates’.
Intel previously sent out invitations to an event on September 2, but the company did not mention what the event would be about. The company did state at the time that it would share ‘something big’. Meanwhile, the investor website of the chip manufacturer states that the event is a ‘virtual Tiger Lake unveiling’, VideoCardz also noted. The event will take place at 6:00 PM Dutch time and the company will publish information about the livestream before the start.
Intel previously announced some details about its Tiger Lake CPUs. For example, the company reported during CES that the upcoming chips, which will succeed the current Ice Lake processors, will include an integrated GPU based on the Xe architecture. The chip manufacturer also includes support for Thunderbolt 4 in these chips. The Tiger Lake laptop processors are made on Intel’s 10nm + process.
On Thursday, August 13, Raja Koduri will give a presentation with ‘updates’ during Hot Chips, but the content will not be discussed further. This former AMD executive made the move to Intel in 2017 and was recently appointed head of architecture and software strategies there. Koduri is also responsible for the development of Intel’s upcoming standalone GPUs, including the Ponte Vecchio-Xe GPUs for data centers and supercomputers. It was previously announced that Intel has problems with its 7nm process, on which these GPUs must be produced. The presentation of Koduri will take place at 3:00 PM Dutch time. Before this event takes place, the company will publish a link to the live stream.
