ASRock introduces barebones for AMD Renoir APUs and Intel Comet Lake CPUs
ASRock has announced two new DeskMini barebones. The DeskMini X300 and DeskMini H470 support AMD Renoir APUs and Intel Comet Lake CPUs respectively. ASRock does not yet announce suggested retail prices and release dates.
The DeskMini barebones both have a housing with dimensions of 15.5×15.5x8cm and a volume of 1.92 liters. The company does not mention weight. The DeskMini X300 supports AMD APUs for socket AM4, where ASRock recommends using a chip with a maximum tdp of 65W. In practice, this means that the barebone is compatible with AMD’s entire Renoir line-up, for example, but Picasso and Raven Ridge APUs can also be used in the mini-PC. With the used mini-stx motherboard with X300 chipset, users can also overclock their CPUs.

The DeskMini H470 variant, in turn, features a mini-stx motherboard with lga1200 socket and H470 chipset, as the name suggests. This barebone therefore supports Comet Lake CPUs from Intel. ASRock also recommends for these barebone CPUs with a maximum tdp of 65W, such as a Core i9-10900. This system does not offer overclocking options for the CPU, due to the H470 chipset.
Both systems offer two so-dimm slots for up to 64GB of DDR4 memory. The X300 variant with Renoir chip supports ddr4-3200 memory according to ASRock, but for the Intel variant and older AM4 APUs from AMD, the officially supported memory speed is 2933MT / s. Both variants offer an HDMI connection with support for a 4k signal at 60Hz. The systems also have a displayport connector and VGA connection. In terms of storage, both variants have two SATA 3 connectors, but the AMD version has two m2 slots and the Intel variant has one. The DeskMini X300 in turn has fewer USB connections than the H470.
The AMD variant is also equipped with a gigabit ethernet nic from Realtek, while the H470 model has a gigabit ethernet chip from Intel. The DeskMini barebones also have an empty m2 key E-slot for a WiFi module. ASRock also supplies a W variant of both barebones, with included Wi-Fi kit from Intel. The company also sells other separate accessories, such as a vesa mount with which the system can be attached to a monitor, for example.
