Download Driver For ATI Catalyst Linux Display Driver 10.8
AMD has released new Linux drivers for its ATI Radeon video cards. The download is 96MB in size and can be used for both 32bit and 64bit environments. Version 10.8 is compatible with Radeon HD 2400 and higher, the FireStream 9170, 9250 and 9270, and the embedded E2400 and E4690. In addition, versions 6.8 through 7.5 of X.org, Linux kernel 2.6 and above, and glibc versions 2.2 and 2.3 are supported. New in this release are support for version 11 SP1 of SUSE Linux Enterprise and OpenGL ES 2.0. The changelog also shows some bug fixes and a list of known issues that have not yet been resolved.
Support for New Linux Operating Systems
This release of ATI Catalyst Linux introduces support for the following new operating system:
- SLED/SLES 11 SP1 production support
OpenGL ES 2.0 support
- ATI Catalyst 10.8 delivers full support for OpenGL ES 2.0 specification
- Enables 3D accelerated graphics within a web browser that supports OpenGL ES 2.0
- Supported on Linux distributions
Resolved Issues
- Disabling the primary display in clone/dual-head mode no longer causes Catalyst Control Center not to launch properly after X restart
- Desktop arrangement area no longer appears empty when Catalyst Control Center is relaunched after disabling or hot-unplugging the secondary display
- X-server no longer fails when launching fullscreen OpenGL application with CrossFire enabled and secondary display selected for accelerated display
- Catalyst Control Center will now launch properly under a 2 Gemini ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series multi-adapter configuration
- “Glxgears/fgl_glxgears” full screen application no longer remain on the desktop after they are closed using X button
- 6% performance drop is no longer observed while running fgl_glxgears and glxgears on specific cards
Known Issues
- X-server may fail to start, or unusual behavior may be observed, after applying various HDTV formats of 1080i30/25/p50 standard and optimized modes on DVI/DP displays
- System may fail to display error message when improper position values are used in “aticonfig –tv-geometry” resulting in invalid “TVHPosAdj” and “TVVPosAdj” values in xorg.conf file
- Rotated screen may fail to properly restore after running full-screen OpenGL application in dual-head mode; a switch VT will restore screen correctly
- Mouse cursor might be blocked from entering the taskbar area after applying specific rotations
- Significant delay may be observed while rotating screen with XRandR
- OpenSuSE 11.3: Corruption may be visible on Firefox while scrolling the window by dragging the scrollbar
- Segmentation fault may occur when running “Quake 4” and “Enemy Territory: Quake Wars” at 1280×1024 or resolutions higher than current desktop resolution
- SUSE 11.2: With a DP display connected to the adapter, a hot-plugged DFP display may fail to light up in clone mode
