Renders show Sony smartphone with 3.5mm jack

Renders of what would become the Sony Xperia 5 Plus have appeared. It is a phone with four cameras on the back and a 3.5mm jack on the top. Sony recently omitted the analog audio connection from smartphones.

The phone measures 168.2×71.6mm, OnLeaks reports on Slashleaks. In recent years, the Frenchman has often provided correct information about unannounced smartphones. According to the info, the screen has dimensions of approximately 154x68mm, with a diagonal of 6.6 “and a screen ratio of 21:9. The resolution is unknown. The Xperia 5, which was released last fall, has an OLED screen of 2520×1080 pixels.

The phone has a fingerprint scanner on the side, a place where Sony has often put a fingerprint scanner on phones in recent years. New is the 3.5mm jack at the top. Last year’s Xperia phones don’t have them. The analog audio connection has not been found on more expensive models from the Japanese manufacturer for two years now.

There are four lenses on the back. Three of them are cameras and Sony also adds a cool sensor, OnLeaks reports. It is unknown what the manufacturer will do with it in the software. For example, a ToF sensor can scan rooms and be used for augmented reality software.

It is unknown when Sony wants to present the smartphone. The announcements at CES have been and the phone was not among them. The next trade show where Sony often makes announcements is Mobile World Congress. This is a telephone fair that takes place in Barcelona at the end of February.
