Canon has released new firmware for the EOS-1D Mark III. The firmware has been given version number 1.2.5 and is available by entering the serial number this page to download. Version 1.2.5 includes three bug fixes. The first improvement relates to viewing photos during Live View. The second fix solves the problem that the message ‘busy’ remains on the screen if the USB cable is disconnected from the camera while data is being exchanged with the computer over the cable. Finally, Canon has simplified the EOS-1D Mark III error messages:

This firmware update (Version 1.2.5) incorporates the following fixes.

Corrects a phenomenon in which a displayed image becomes pitch-black if it is zoomed in on during Live View shooting.

Corrects a phenomenon in which “busy” may continue to appear on the camera if the USB cable is disconnected during USB communication.

Changes the error indications that are displayed on the camera. The error indications are further clarified to make the causes of errors easier to identify, and so that adequate support can be provided to our customers.
