BlackBerry has sold 1.9 million smartphones in the past three months. The company announced this in its quarterly figures. The number of sales fell significantly compared to previous quarters, but the loss was nevertheless limited.

The introduction of the Passport does not seem to have helped the number of sales. BlackBerry does not comment on the sales figures of the Passport itself. In total, however, 1.9 million units have been sold, compared to 2.4 million in the previous quarter and 4.3 million units a year ago.

In the third quarter a turnover of 793 million dollars was achieved, which is approximately 645 million euros. Of that, 46 percent comes from hardware, an equal percentage of that revenue comes from various services, and the remaining 8 percent comes from software-related things and other revenue. A year earlier, an even higher turnover was achieved of almost 1.2 billion dollars, approximately 1 billion euros.

BlackBerry is still in the minus at the end of the line, but the loss has decreased sharply. In the third period of 2014, a loss of USD 148 million, or EUR 120 million, was incurred. Compared to a year earlier, these figures are not too bad thanks to significant cost savings. In the comparable quarter of 2013, the loss was significantly higher at 4.4 billion dollars, converted to 3.58 billion euros.
