Microsoft has removed the update KB3004394 from Windows systems. The reason for this was that many Windows 7 users reported problems after installing the update. A Windows update for Exchange has also been taken offline.

KB3004394 is an update for issuing root certificates in Windows, but caused problems for many Windows 7 users after the rollout last Tuesday. For example, various drivers could no longer be installed and various software packages no longer worked properly. This includes built-in software such as Windows Defender and the task manager, Anandtech says.

According to Microsoft, an update has now been rolled out that removes KB3004394 from Windows systems. That should fix the issues Windows 7 users have reported. AMD had already advised not to install the Windows update in question, or to uninstall it.

Furthermore, an update has been retrieved that was intended for Exchange and Outlook. After installing the update, some Outlook users were unable to connect to the server within Exchange Server environments. A new update will be rolled out once the issue has been reproduced and repaired by Microsoft, the Redmond-based company announced.
