‘Microsoft canceled Lumia camera phone’
Microsoft Mobile has canceled a high-end Lumia camera phone, claims tech site The Verge. Detailed photos have now emerged of the canceled device, codenamed McLaren and aimed at controlling Kinect-like technology.
Although the bump on the back suggested that it was a camera like the Lumia 1020, according to The Verge this is not the case: it is about the same camera as in the more recent Lumia 930 and 1520, with a maximum resolution of around 20 megapixels and without xenon flash.
The device, which was given the name ‘Lumia 1030’ on many sites after photos appeared online, would mainly be aimed at the introduction of Kinect-like technology for Windows Phone. The prototype in the photos is running the current Windows Phone 8.1. The McLaren appears to have a mostly aluminum body and a screen with a diagonal of around 5″ The photos appeared on the Chinese social network Baidu.
