LastPass Lets Users Automatically Change Passwords
Password Manager Lastpass lets users change passwords at the touch of a button. Lastpass announced the feature a day after the new password manager Dashlane introduced support for automatic password changes.
LastPass extensions for Chrome, Safari and Firefox now allow one-touch password changes for a site, the password manager has announced. This opens a new tab where Lastpass changes the user’s passwords. Then Lastpass saves the new password. The password manager supports 75 sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, and Dropbox.
The announcement of the functionality follows shortly after the introduction of similar functionality by Dashlane, a new password manager. There are differences though: Dashlane can, for example, change all user passwords for supported sites at once and also automatically change them every so often; LastPass can’t do that.
By contrast, LastPass has support for 75 websites, while Dashlane only has 50, though Dashlane has promised more sites to be added. Furthermore, LastPass performs the password change operations on a user’s PC, while Dashlane does it on the server side.
