’63 percent of European population has access to 4G network’
About 63 percent of the European population falls within the coverage area of a 4G network. That’s according to the GSM Association. By 2020, that percentage should grow to 83 percent. Still, at the start of 2015, only 10 percent of mobile connections would be 4G.
The GSMA believes that the percentage of 4G users will continue to grow in the coming years. The organization estimates that by 2020 more than half of mobile connections will be 4G. There is talk of 53 percent.
At the end of the current calendar year, there would be approximately 431 million unique mobile subscribers in Europe. According to GSMA, this concerns 79 percent of the total European population. GSMA expects the penetration rate to show a relatively small increase over the years. The funding ratio has also grown strongly in recent years and this trend is expected to continue.
According to GSMA figures, 4G networks cover an area that is said to be home to 63 percent of Europe’s population. Earlier this year, the 50 percent barrier was broken. By 2020, about 83 percent should have access to one or more 4G networks.
