Rumor: Google to close Glass stores

It looks like Google is going to close its support stores for the Glass smart glasses; the stores are no longer accepting new appointments. The potential shutdown fuels previous rumors that Google is having trouble introducing Glass to the general public.

According to Phandroid, the stores, where Glass users can go for technical support, among other things, are no longer accepting new agreements with customers. That may indicate that the stores, with locations in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, will have to close soon. Google itself has not released any information about its plans.

The shops, so-called Basecamps, must provide support with the introduction of Glass. In addition to the fact that users can visit them by appointment and receive technical support, accessories are sold. The fact that no new agreements are made before the consumer version is released indicates that the Basecamps were not successful.

Google has been struggling with its Glass glasses for some time now. For example, Twitter recently stopped supporting the glasses by withdrawing its app. In addition, the release of the consumer version has already been postponed a number of times and the European authorities, among others, have privacy objections. In addition, there are rumors that there is disagreement within Google’s Glass team.
