Sony presents Alpha A7 II camera with in-body image stabilization

Sony has announced the Alpha A7 II camera in Japan. The full-frame system camera has optical image stabilization in the body that works over five axes. The camera can record videos with the xavc s codec. The camera is currently only available in Japan.

Sony claims that the A7 II is the first full-frame system camera that has image stabilization in the body over five axes. That means that all photos can be stabilized, regardless of which lens is used. Sony also promises that the autofocus is about thirty percent faster compared to the previous model. The housing of the A7 II has a greater grip compared to the previous A7 and has a wheel on the front. The magnesium alloy housing measures 12.7×9.6x6cm and weighs 556 grams.

The sensor has a maximum resolution of 6000×4000 pixels, writes DPReview. You can record videos with a maximum of 1920×1080 pixels in avchd and xavc-s with 50Mbit/s. The camera, on which Alpha E-mount lenses fit, has NFC on board to wirelessly connect to other devices and has a Bionz X-image processor that has to process the images. The camera will be released in Japan in two weeks, but Sony has not yet announced a release elsewhere.
