Panasonic has announced a display for the professional market with a diagonal of 98 inches and a UHD resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. The screens must provide a sharper image for outdoor advertising purposes, for example.

The TH-98LQ70 has dimensions of 2223x1288x122mm and the screen edge has a width of 32.5mm. The 98″ panel is of the IPS type and the horizontal and vertical viewing angles are therefore 178 degrees. Furthermore, the maximum brightness is 500cd/m2 and the gray-to-gray response time is 8ms. The display interfaces with displayport, dvi-d, dsub and twice hdmi and according to Panasonic, four different video format signals can be displayed on one screen.

The manufacturer promises that the screen is suitable for 24-hour use and can withstand shocks and outdoor conditions, due to the presence of an aluminum housing and a glass protection panel. The TH-98LQ70 could also be used vertically. The display is intended for professional use such as control rooms, advertising and events. These are the first UHD screens from Panasonic in this format for the professional market.

Those who want to purchase the screen must have deep pockets, because the suggested retail price of the TH-98LQ70 is 54,480 euros. In January 2015, the TH-84LQ70 will come with 84 “beedl diagonal, which should cost 26,390 euros.
